The new Peugeot RCZ Concept can attract your attention, although it doesn’t have the mass appeal of the similar Audi TT or the Volkswagen Scirocco. But it has a clever folding/sliding roof mechanism. Look at the pictures on our gallery below to see more details on that.
It will be called as the “View Top”, which will contain separate glass segments that are joined with the regular textile material, to build a watertight seal. The reports said that it just needs 12 seconds to open or close, turning the latest RCZ into a more impressive car in the process.
Since the narrowing windscreen pillars have been maintaining, the engineers will not have to present any strengthening beams since the rigidity is still all there. It means that if it receives past the concept stage, this car could make a more sense than the coupe, since it is more of a cruiser than a really sports car.
The other noteworthy thing is the trouble with the room in the rear. This coupe version of the RCZ has a snazzy-looking “double-double” roof, which not only looks so cool, but also presents that extra bit of the rear headroom. This car is so tight in its back, so its transformation into a convertible version would render the seats totally useless.
You can see the open-top RCZ in the metal at the Geneva Motor Show of this year.
